![]() Beth Kelley, 39, an architect who lived in Biloxi as a teenager, now living in New Jersey, takes a break from cleaning out the ruined building she owned on Scenic Drive in Pass Christian. She is frustrated because the insurance adjusters haven't yet come to assess her damage. She has Mississippi Windstorm Coverage, but because her contents are strewn over 2 blocks, they tell her that it must have been water damage. Her building on one of Pass Christian's two main crossroads housed a Curves exercise center and antiques shop. It was once the Avalon Theatre; now you can see the exposed traces of the old stairs that led to the segregated balcony. Beth points out that the forties-era gas station across the street was actually a furniture outlet that had horrible cladding and no windows, but that Katrina peeled off the cladding to reveal a better building... |
