Vicky Niolet tends a gift shop in Bay St. Louis housed in a building she and her husband renovated, one of several surviving buildings in the town's arts-centered shopping district.

"I'd like us to build it back like what it used to be, but not necessarily what blew away in the storm. Wouldn't be great if Bay St. Louis could come back like it was pre-Camille, and even before the 1947 hurricane? I'd love to see the old hotels like we used to have. If we had to have condos, I wouldn't mind if they were like the old hotels used to be. We're kind of easy marks right now. Some people are discouraged and they want to sell out. But the people who want to stay want the traditional feel of old Bay St. Louis."
